Thermal energy can be defined as the energy a system or substance has due to its temperature. The main concept is that heat is an energy form corresponding to a definite amount of mechanical work. Broadly we can say that it deals with the transfer of energy from one form to another and from one place to another. Thermodynamics can be defined as the science of the relationship between work, heat, energy, and temperature. The concept of thermodynamics is applied to various topics in engineering and science, especially in chemical engineering, physical chemistry, mechanical engineering, etc. The laws of thermodynamics govern the behavior of these quantities irrespective of the specific properties of the system or material. Thermodynamics is that branch of physics which deals with temperature and heat and their relation to work and energy.
